BBMHA serves the areas of Beausejour, Garson, Tyndall and the RM of Brokenhead, Manitoba.
Beausejour is located approx. 50 minutes north-east of Winnipeg, Manitoba. BBMHA serves between 150 - 175 minor hockey aged kids. Our kids range in age from 4 to 17 years old.
Player Programs
The Beausejour-Brokenhead Minor Hockey Association offers house league hockey for players at every age and skill level, from the developmental Initiation program, to Tiered Hockey Play. BBMHA also feeds into Competitive Hockey leagues.
Initiation (U7)
Our Initiation program offers an introductory program for 5-6 year olds that is based on Hockey Canada's program guidelines for this age group. The focus of this program is skills development and fun.
Tiered Hockey Play
For U9 (ages 7-8), U11 (9-10) and U13 (11-12), U15 (13-14) and U18 (15-17), we offer a tiered hockey program (A/B/C) that provides players with the opportunity to play within an environment that matches their level of skill. For U9, U11 and U13, players that are new to hockey or with a 'beginner' level of skill have the opportunity to play at the 'C' level. Intermediate and advanced skill levels play at the 'B' and/or 'A' levels respectively. These teams play league games against other house-league associations within the Eastman region in the Eastman Minor Hockey League.
Within BBMHA, our number of teams is based on estimated player registrations and a target model of 11 to 18 players (10 - 17 Skaters + 1 or 2 Goalies) per team for the U9 – U18 Divisions. Variations may occur to the target number of players/team in certain situations, depending on actual registrations. The assignment of players to teams is based on the Association’s evaluation of the skills of each player.
For the A levels, an additional variable is age. BBMHA will field one A team at U11 and U13 as numbers permit. Second year players may not be selected over a minor age player, where skills are assessed at an equal level.
The “C” level (U11 and U13) will be composed of players that are new to hockey and/or have been assessed at a level of skill reflective of this level.
BBMHA is committed to fielding tiered teams that reflect the actual level of skills of the players to create a fun and supportive environment. We reserve the right to move players from one team to another to achieve this balance. Player movements will be determined by the Convenor for the specific level in consultation with the President and Vice Presidents and the affected coaches. Every attempt is made to complete player moves by Nov 15th but in exceptional cases, player moves may be required after this date. In all cases the BBMHA Executive and Convenor's decision is final.
Competitive Hockey
U13 AA
Eastman Minor Hockey hosts a U13 AA team that BBMHA players can tryout for. All players that want to play U13 AA must register with their home associations first. Register under the U13 A option during the BBMHA registration.
U15 AA
Players interested in playing U15 AA must try-out with the Northern Knights. All players are required to register with BBMHA prior. Players should monitor the Northern Knights website for specific information on that team.
U15 AAA
All players that want to play U15 AAA (Minor or Major) must register with their home associations. Register under the U15 AA option during the BBMHA registration.
