BBMHA  Code of Conduct

As a player in the Beausejour-Brokenhead Minor Hockey Association, I agree to adopt the following Code of Conduct. I fully understand that breaching this Code could result in a penalty as severe as suspension for the duration of the remainder of the season.

I will play hockey because I want to, not just because others or coaches want me to.

I will play by the rules of hockey, and respect my opponents, coaches, officials and their decisions.

I will attend as many games and practices as reasonably possible. I will be present before games and practices in a timely manner and will notify the coach ahead of time if I will be absent.

I will control my temper – fighting and mouthing off can spoil the activity     for everyone.

I will respect the facilities, either home or away, in which I am privileged to play.

I will do my best to be a true team player. I will show a high degree of sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive attitude at all times when representing my team, league and community.

I will acknowledge all good plays / performances – those of my team and of my opponents. I will accept the abilities of the other players.

I will ensure that my equipment is complete, safe and in good condition.

I will remember that winning isn’t everything, that having fun, improving skills, making friends and doing my best are also important.

As a Parent in the Beausejour-Brokenhead Minor Hockey Association, I agree to adopt the following Code of Conduct. I fully understand that breaching this Code could result in a penalty as severe as suspension for the duration of the remainder of the season.

I will not force my child to participate in hockey.

I will remember that my child plays hockey for his or her enjoyment, not mine.

I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.

I will teach my child that doing one’s best is as important as winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game/event.

I will make my child feel like a winner every time by offering praise for competing fairly and trying hard.

I will never ridicule or yell at my child for making a mistake or losing a competition.

I will remember that children learn best by example. I will applaud good plays / performances by both my child’s team and their opponents.

I will never question the official’s judgement or honesty in public.

I will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from children’s hockey activities.

I will respect and show appreciation for the volunteer coaches who give their time to provide hockey experiences for my child.
