2023-24 Northern Knights Tryouts

The U15 AA Eastman Northern Knights invite you to try out for the 2023-2024 team and be a part of another exciting year of AA hockey. The Northern Knights team is now accepting registrations for tryouts for the 2022-23 season. Players born in 2009-2010 are eligible to try out for this year’s team. The fee for Phase 1 tryouts will be $150.00. Registration for U15 AA Northern Knights is to be completed on-line through the Eastman registration website.

In order to attend tryouts, players must be registered with their home association first.

There are many qualities that make up a successful AA hockey player and contribute to the success of the team. During the tryout process, players who demonstrate their preparation by attending tryouts in good physical condition, on ice skills, good work ethic, character and attitude, will be the players most likely to succeed.

Tryouts will be split into three phases.

Phase 1 & 2 tryouts are scheduled for the following dates in Beausejour at the Sungro Centre.

PHASE 1 - September 15-17, 2023

PHASE 2 - September 22-24, 2023

PHASE 3 – September 28-30, 2023 (Ile des Chenes)

Specific times will be sent out the week prior to tryouts beginning.

Tryout Process

Phase 1 – September 16-17, 2023

Individuals will be provided instructions prior to going onto the ice. Phase one will involve 2 skates and consist of skill practices and an intra-squad game. Evaluators will be assessing fundamental skills in practice and game situations. Players making it through to Phase 2 will be provided with a follow up schedule.

Phase 2 – September 23-24, 2023

The second phase of tryouts will involve 2 skates including an inter-squad game. Evaluators will be assessing skill and game situations vs. other players.

Phase 3 – U15 AA Evaluation Showcase – Sept 28-30, 2023

The final phase of tryouts will involve an evaluation tournament to facilitate the final team selection.

The final team is expected to consist of 15 skaters and 2 goalies. In addition, players that are released after Phase 2 may be asked to be an affiliate player (AP) throughout the season. This will give players the opportunity to practice and potentially play if needed due to injuries during the season.

Please Note:

· Tryout pennies/jerseys will be assigned during registration before your first scheduled ice time.

· No players or parents are to attend the rink at anytime if they are feeling sick or ill. If coaches recognize a player ill or injured they may be sent off the off immediately. If at any point prior to or during the try out process a player becomes injured or sick this will not eliminate the player from the try out process. However it is very important that the player communicates their status to the coaching staff.

· There will be players released at the completion of each tryout phase. All releases will be done electronically – via email and there will be opportunity to request feedback from the evaluators.
