1st annual 3 on 3 street hockey tournament

This event is our first ever Blades 3 on 3 Street Hockey Tournament! This will be a day full of outdoor fun and excitement! 3 Games guaranteed!

GAME/TEAM RULES

  • All games are 3 on 3 play (+goalie)
  • Maximum 7 players, 6 plus goalie.
  • Minimum 4 players, plus goalie.
  • No Goalie, no problem. Teams can use another player in absence of a goalie: 4 attackers, no goalie.
  • Players must be on official team roster.
  • Team Coaches/Leaders to check in at registration table prior to first game. During check-in will be the last time you can make roster changes.
  • Teams to bring dark and white team shirts – get creative!
  • Games
    • 3-minute warm-up period prior to game.
    • Two 15-minute halves - running time (both halves start with a faceoff)
    • 1 minute half time break.
    • Last minute of play will be stop time if goal difference is within 3 goals.
  • Any team that does not show up on time OR does not show up at all to play a game will result in a 3-0 loss. 
  • Players under 18 years of age are required to wear the following equipment:
    • Helmet with full cage
    • Hockey gloves
    • Shin pads (soccer shin pads)
    • Runners (no sandals)
  • Players 18 years and older are required to wear the following equipment:
    • Helmet (no cage required)
    • Hockey gloves
    • Runners (no sandals)
    • Shin pads - optional
  • All players must bring a hockey stick or ball hockey stick.
  • Goalie are required to wear full face mask and goalie pads and use goalie stick. Full goalie gear is recommended.
  • NOT ALLOWED: Slap shots (any shot starting above the shooters waist) If a slap shot occurs, play will be whistled down. Ball possession will be given to opposite team.
  • All tournament participants ARE REQUIRED to complete Beausejour Blades 3 on 3 Street Hockey Tournament wavier and release of liability online form. A parent/guardian must fill out wavier for participants under 18 years old.
  • Youth teams can have players younger than roster specification.
  • Youth teams can NOT have players older than roster specification.
  • Parent supervisor or coach required for U7, U9, U11, U13, and U15 divisions.
  • 1 player CANNOT be on multiple teams. Player must commit to one team only.


DURING THE GAME

  • After scoring a goal, the team that scored must go back to their end and wait for the ball or offensive player to cross center line before making a play.
  • When a goalie covers the ball, defending team gets possession of the ball behind their net and 5 seconds to put the ball into play. The apposing team must give 5 feet of space until after the 5 seconds.
  • If the ball exits the play area (hit out of bounds), the opposing team gets ball possession. Ref to make this call and establish which team gets possession. Team that gets possession has 5 seconds to put the ball in play, while opposing team must give 5 feet of space.
  • If a player makes an illegal slap shot – opposing team will get ball possession.
  • Players are allowed to change at any point in the game. Change must be made promptly and from the team’s defensive end of the rink. Refs’ discretion is used if a change was at an unfair advantage.
  • All teams get one 30-second time out if needed.
  • All penalties, including high sticking will be granted a penalty shot. All players stand on the opposite side of center except the shooter. After shot, defending team will have possession with 5 seconds to put the ball in play with players 5 feet away.
  • No “icing” or “off-sides”
  • Any unsportsmanlike behaviour, such as fighting or body checking will result in player(s) to be ejected from the game and suspended from the rest of the tournament. 
  • Any unsportsmanlike behaviour identified as an attempt to injure will result in player to be ejected from the game and suspended from the rest of the tournament. The apposing team will get 3 penalty shots.
  • A goaltender can be pulled at anytime during play and replaced by one additional attacker.
  •  Delay of game penalties to ref discretion. i.e intentionally hitting the ball out of bounds.
  • In the event of a tie at the end of two 15-minutes halves in the preliminary round, winner will be decided by a shootout. 1 round, 3 shooters. After that, sudden death. All players must shoot before shooting a 2nd time.
  • In the event of a tie in playoffs, game will go into 5 mins of sudden death overtime. If still tied, winner will be decided by a shootout. 1 round, 3 shooters. After that, sudden death. All players must shoot before shooting a 2nd time.
  • Tie braking rule for pool standings
  • Head-to-head wins
  • Overall goal differential. MAX +7 per game.
  • Coin toss
  • Point System
    • 3 points – Regulation win
    • 2 points – Shoot out win
    • 1 point – Shoot out loss
    • 0 points – Regulation loss
  • Tournament organizers have the right to reduce the number of games or shorten games in case of severe inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances. No refund unless the tournament does not occur at all.

  • A few picnic tables are available. We suggest bringing chairs.
  • Bathroom on site! 
  • Tournament will take place rain or shine. Dress for weather. Bring sun protection (sunscreen, hats). It will only be cancelled due to extreme circumstances.
