Pre-Evaluation Skates & Player Evaluations

As part of the new requirements from Hockey Canada and Hockey Manitoba, BBMHA will continue to offer four pre-evaluation skates for U9, U11 and U13 players.

These sessions are part of the development pathway and are designed to help ensure all players have an opportunity to get back on the ice in a player-friendly environment before formal evaluations begin. A player’s first experience back on the ice in a new season should not be a formal evaluation.

Pre-Evaluation Skates

  • 4 on-ice sessions
  • 1 hour per session
  • Available to U9, U11 and U13 BBMHA-registered players
  • Optional to attend
  • Cost is included in registration fees

These sessions provide players with an opportunity to get comfortable back on the ice, sharpen their skills and prepare for the upcoming evaluation process.

Player Evaluations

BBMHA will once again be using Max Analytics for player/goalie evaluations this season. This system helps provide a fair, consistent and transparent evaluation process for all players.

Goalie Evaluations

The BBMHA Executive has approved a dedicated goalie evaluation for all U11 and U13 goaltenders. This decision was made to provide goaltenders with the opportunity to properly demonstrate their position-specific skills in an environment designed specifically for goaltending.

Goalie skates and equipment are uniquely designed to support the movements, balance and agility required for the position. A dedicated evaluation allows goaltenders to showcase these specialized skills more effectively than in a general player evaluation setting.

Please note that all goalies are still required to attend the skater evaluations and scrimmages for their age division. The dedicated goalie technical evaluation will take place on a day when there are no scheduled U11 or U13 group evaluations.
